We are hated for being liberal, for being soft on crime, for being the Nanny state. The last presidential campaign was lost because 'Massachusetts Liberal' was turned into a curse word. Well it's time we stand up for ourselves, time we remind people just what makes Massachusetts great, and just where they would be, if it was not for Massachusetts.
We thought up this country, pestered our way out of the English Empire and on to the world stage. Cutting edge thinking, when no other colony thought about anything but fealty to the mother country, the citizens of Massachusetts stepped forward and demanded the right to go our own way.
If it was not for Massachusetts we would all be sounding like Madonna! And not when she was cutting edge, either!
It would be illegal to ask Prince Charles if he gets HBO on those satilate dishes he calls ears.
Next Fourth of July, thank a Bostonian. Not just for having a country to call our own, but because it was a citizen of Massachusetts, John Adams who suggested we celebrate our freedom with noise and great show.
