From Boston to Albany - Arisia to Albacon

Stupid Blogger just lost a long long post.

So ...

After looking at funds and my interests, I decided that I would attend Albacon in Albany New York. Guests of honor are the McCaffrey's,(both Todd, and fingers crossed Anne) and I am a big Pern fan. Well I am a fan of all of her books. They are all great in my not very humble opinion.

After looking at travel times, I decided that instead of driving I would check prices for trains, planes, and buses. Started with Priceline but the lowest fare I found was over 300 dollars. Time line was great, I would be in the air for just over an hour. Once I added the travel time to and from the airport, and the two hour wait to be screened, I decided to look elsewhere.

Started thinking Amtrack and discovered the connector to the Lake Shore limited has a connector between Boston and Albany that only costs 22 dollars each way. The time table shows it takes just over five hours, and I am not sure how close the train station is to the hotel yet. Five hours on the train sounds like a much better option. Lake Shore

Next I am going to check the bus schedule. See what kind of trips are running.

Is anyone else in the Boston area traveling to Albacon?

Just checked the web page, the hotel will do free pickup and dropoff to the train station. That rocks.
