So, I'm awake, we're all awake, well me Byron and Purrball. I think we woke up Spencer as well.
See, I don't know to much about Byron's nightmare, only that he was barking and moving his legs in his sleep, something had him bothered. I registered that much in my sleeping brain. What caused me to wake up was not his motion on the bed, it was Purrball's. You see she was kind enough to wake me up. Well perhaps kind is not the word I am looking for.
She not entirely voluntarily moved from her position next to my stomach, to a position directly under my, up until that point, unblemished nose. For Byron, in his dream, kicked out with his hind legs, and directly impacted Purrball's sleeping rump. Not for the better. She, now under some distress managed, in less time than it takes to tell you this; moved, screamed, and extended her claws toward my up until then, unblemished nose. For the record, ouch!!
Byron had woken up some where between striking the cat, and my shock at being woken up, in a way I so do not recommend. He was standing on the bed, ears up, eyes white with fear, and crying. I jumped into mommy mode and started comforting him, as did Purrball, once she finished admonishing both of us for waking her up.
Byron jumped off the bed and ran around the house for a few moments, barking at what ever phantom he needed to vanquish. Then returned to the bed, where I continued comforting him. After a half hour, Purrball was once again asleep, and Byron was no closer to calming down.
I decided that a quick walk around the block might calm him down. So I got dressed, found some shoes and stumbled down stairs, with Byron and the now awake Purrball in tow. I put on his leash, and out into the cold we went. The cat being the smarter of the three, decided it was a good time to go pester Spencer, thus waking her up also.
I was correct in my assumption that walking Byron would calm him down, he is currently stretched out at the foot of the bed, eyes closed breathing softly not a care in the world. I on the other hand am awake, very awake.
As is Purrball. I think I shall play some zootycoon until I fall asleep. Or the sun comes up.
