Yesterday Jim Rice was voted into the hall of fame. Since then, he has received many honors, including joining Ricky Henderson recite the top ten list on David Letterman last night.

I was happy to tell my Dad when he came out of surgery that Jim had been elected to the hall. It is so over due for Jim to be in the hall.

Because Jim is more than an incredible player, he is an amazing man! In a baseball game that happened just a few days before my wedding, August 7th 1982. A young fan was hit in the head by a line drive, and while everyone else just watched, Jim Rice jumped out of the dugout and went into the stands to grab the child. He brought the boy into the team clubhouse so he could be treated by their medical staff. This was before Beth Israel had set up a medical area for people attending the games, so the only medical staff available was the teams. He was credited by the team's doctor Arthur Pappas as having saved the boys life.
