The things I am thinking of today.

This article is way to funny, and sadly all to real. Rockport bars book over one bad word I wrote a comment to the article on the Globe web site. Much to my surprise Jackass is a banned word and I got an automatic message to redo the post and remove the word.

As always UGO has wonderful articles that make me drool like 25 Comics canceled to soon

Both AV Club and Television with out pity missed the holiday themed episodes of Eureka and Warehouse 13 last night. Both were good episodes, so I guess I'll have to do my own part to push them.

Now here is something that confuses me. Both Little Orphan Anne and Brenda Starr are ending this year. Each comic is or was still being written, still drawn. Both by active cartoonists. Meanwhile, the walking dead monster that is Peanuts goes on. Reprint after reprint, day after day. Depressing beyond belief.

Sunday Links

A few of the things I have looked at this week.

You got questions, they got answers.

David Bianculli is one of the smarter tv critics out there. He is the regular guest host of Fresh Air

This is one of my favorite new shows Prehistoric

The AV club has a great series called Gate ways to Geekery and just reached post 75 on Edgar Allen Poe.

Watch George Takei call out homophobic Arkansas School board member take down

Star Trek cited in Texas Supreme Court Well quoted in a law. Wonder if they will start publishing school books in Klingon? Perhaps passing the Kobayashi Maru will become a requirement to graduate?

Quick question> Is my ability to spell Kobayashiu Maru without having to look it up a good thing, or proof of my geekery?

I declare The first weekly Saturday link post.

Not promising I'll remember to do this every Saturday, but lets hope.

Back before there were vinyl or electronic billboards people still advertised, they just did it by painting on walls Something Jay has done an amazing job of collecting.

For those of you who don't remember the 70's let me introduce you to Father Quido Saducci

I say that Lizzie Velsquez is the only person on the planet allowed to complain that she is too skinny!

Trying to decide if I want to go shopping or just hang out at home. I think home will win out.

Fun links I want to share

Just had to share a few silly things today.

Yes it has been a while since we have seen Darth Vader and friends selling product. But, in honor of things once past, lets take a trip down memory lane. Back when Darth Vader pitchman.

Continuing on our Syfy theme and in honor of no special reason. Here are Syfy's favorite homosexual characters in Science Fiction.

Johnny Damon might be returning to the Boston Red Sox. Still not sure how I feel about that.

One of my favorite web pages, where we the consumer gets to bite big business back.

Mostly, I want every one to look at the Darth Vader pitchman link. I love me some M&M's right now.

Things that are no longer there

Been flipping around the web tonight and got to looking at blogs about abandoned buildings. From there I followed links to pictures of abandoned theme or amusement parks. This lead to me wondering about places I remember from my childhood that are no longer there.

I started looking at this wikipedia paga defunct amusement parks and from there looked at a specific amusement park I remembered going to as a kid. Rocky Point. From there I started wondering about the stores I use to go to. Like Zayre and good old Spags And another old favorite
Caldor

One of the more recent store closings Ames Department Store which even has a web site for fans of Ames fanclub

Of course living where I do, I think every day about an amusement park I never did see in operation. Wonderland Amusement Park looking at these old pictures Wonderland

Boosting the signal - please spread this article

I don't usually read conservative bloggers, and even less frequently agree with what they have to say. Today Debbie Schlussel is the exception to both rules.  She has taken the time to investigate Sean Hannity's Freedom Concert charity and has discovered the charity gives less than 10% of what it raises to the people it claims to help.

Amazingly cool links

Many from friends around the web, and  one or two I have found on my own.   Sorry have not been doing much more than crashing on my bed the last few days.  Warm weather has brought with it a minor flair and a bit more pain than I can deal with.

wisebread - living large on a small budget

Piers Anthony       I am sure everyone has read at least one of his series, and his web site is an amazing collection of blog posts, information and encouragement for new writers of all kinds.

Free Videos Online - Watch TV Online - Free Video Clips | Veoh

I love wiki's and I love humor this web page fandom wank brings the two together wonderfully.

Oh well, time for me to crash in a big heap.  Need something to get my muscles to relax. Enjoy the links. If anyone has any links of their own that they think my distract me from my pain, please send them my way.

A rare links post

Because these are the things that have kept me from my chores all day.

A group in Salt Lake City wants to add a monument to a local park. Right next to the ten commandants, they wish to put up their own religions seven suggestions.
seven suggestions

The Boston Red Sox have offered to do their bit to hold down the cost of living. They announced today that they will not raise ticket prices at the park this year. First time in I lost track of how many years. Since they already have the most expensive tickets in baseball I don't have a lot of hope that the average, stayed with them through the bad years fan will be getting into the park any time soon.

The Salvation Army is bringing it red kettles out early this year. Last year I wrote about how important the Salvation Army was to my family when my grandfather died. They brought my father home from the military before he could be shipped out to Korea, helped him to get a job, helped my grandmother keep her family together. Without them, there would be no me. Please help them this year, I know I will.

Links a pa oops a

I was trying to sync my palm and my favorites file, so when I am talking to someone about a web page I like I can give them the link. Some how between firefox foxmark and palm sync I managed to loose all my book marks. On both computers thanks to foxmark.

I told my brother I was going to bed at eleven. Then hit the sync button on my palm and walked away. Then as I was about to shut down everything I saw a message that my favorites file was being synced to the palm. Which did NOT as of eleven o'clock have a favorites folder.

So lets just say four years of favorites are gone.

Can every one share with me their favorite news, gossip, humor sites. I still have the stuff I saved on 'I-Google' but that is so not the half of it.

Well, I'm throughly crushed for the night. Time to crawl into bed.
